Position Function
The Institute Project Coordinator for the Institute for the Study of Political Economy at Ball State will work with the Director and Assistant Directors to manage the Institute’s day-to-day activities. The position’s primary responsibilities include web and social media management, event planning, budget oversight, and grant writing.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience
At least one year of experience managing social media, websites, and email lists. A minimum of one year of experience with at least three of the following: a) event planning; b) grant writing; c) budget oversight; d) fundraising; e) academia
Minimum Other
Excellent written communication skills. Strong skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat (or the equivalent). Ability to manage multiple projects.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Experience
Editing; major document creation and presentation; familiarity with database or statistical software; media relations.

In collaboration with the Director, create and manage the Institute’s web and social media presence. Develop first drafts and make daily decisions about content.

Serve as the liaison for the Institute’s public events, including guest speakers, faculty seminars, and student colloquia.

Plan and execute on-campus events through partnership with relevant campus offices such as catering and other outside organizations.

Manage the Institute’s budget, including reimbursements and stipend payments to Institute faculty and visitors. Collaborate with appropriate campus offices to ensure timely responses to accounts payable.

In collaboration with the Director and Assistant Directors, develop and evaluate workflow processes as well as make recommendations for improvement on the existing processes and programs.

Collect and analyze data related to Institute events, hits on social media, view of publications, etc., and use those data, along with other photos and materials, to produce an annual report for both internal and external audiences. Use data analysis and report as the basis for presenting recommendations to the Director for new approaches and strategies.

Serve as the liaison for the Menard Summer Research Fellows Program and visiting faculty fellows.

Identify grant opportunities. In collaboration with the Director, Assistant Directors, SPA, and relevant MCOB staff, identify additional grant opportunities. Draft grant proposals, submit to Director and Assistant Directors for feedback, finalize and submit proposals.

Collaborate with Director and Miller College of Business staff to identify possible sources of funding for ISPE and provide relevant data for pursuing new donors.
