Position Summary
This position will serve as a Research Technician I at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will provide ongoing assistance to laboratory research projects. The experiments performed in the lab will be designed to understand the mechanisms by which pathogenic strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae or Acinetobacter baumannii cause disease. Studies will be performed to identify and assess potential drug targets and/or vaccine candidates. In this position, you will:
This position will serve as a Research Technician I at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will provide ongoing assistance to laboratory research projects. The experiments performed in the lab will be designed to understand the mechanisms by which pathogenic strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae or Acinetobacter baumannii cause disease. Studies will be performed to identify and assess potential drug targets and/or vaccine candidates. In this position, you will:
- perform experiments and record and interpret results
- use techniques including, but not limited to growth and
maintenance of bacterial strains, determining bacterial titers,
animal work model, ELISA assays, protein carbohydrate purification,
and molecular technique for creating mutants
- perform lab maintenance duties, including media preparation and ordering of supplies and equipment

Minimum Qualifications
Requires education in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, or other related field and at least one year of experience directly related to the research or the program. Also requires experience in a laboratory environment and/or with laboratory animals. Must have working knowledge of typical tests or procedures relative to the field and must have familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipments.
