Job Summary
The Coordinator of Student Accessibility Resources provides general disability management, advising and support to students with disabilities. Ensures accessibility to all TCC programs and services. Serves as the liaison between faculty, staff and students with special needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Evaluates students’ documentation to establish eligibility for departmental services; meet with active and prospective students to discuss reasonable and effective use of accommodations
• Educates students in self-advocacy to help implement reasonable accommodations; promote awareness of the department’s services; develop/maintain knowledge of disability law practices and issues related to ADA and Section 504 compliance
• Develops and revise policies and procedures to guide provision of academic accommodations and services to disabled students
• Hires, trains, coordinates, and supervises staff to maintain ADA and Section 504 compliance
• Acts as a liaison between students, faculty, and rehabilitation agencies, which involves monitoring disabled students progress at TCC
• Serves on various campus committees; team with staff to address problems regarding accessibility
• Submits annual budget recommendations
• Gathers and reports data for annual reports and special studies
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the TCC Institute
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Three (3) years of professional experience as a service provider to students with disabilities
• Experience collaborating with other community agencies and organizations that provide disability support services
• Experience with computerized systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• Master’s degree in Counseling or closely related field
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
• Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act and all applicable state and federal disability statutes as well as general awareness of current literature, and legal cases in post-secondary education
• Knowledge of best practices as defined in the Association of Higher Education on Disability, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling, the American Counseling Association and/or the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board
• Knowledge of testing and measurements, the ability to interpret diagnostic assessments and documentation of cognitive, psychiatric and medical disorders, their impact on the provision of services to college students with disabilities
• Knowledge of functional limitations of disabilities, their effect(s), understanding their academic, and the determination of the appropriate accommodation(s)
