Primary Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities will include plant biology, upper-division botany courses (e.g., field botany courses), and biology courses as needed by the department. Undergraduate advising of biology majors is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program in plant biology involving undergraduate and graduate students. The department has an herbarium collection, research and display greenhouses, and access to field sites.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or ABD (with Ph.D. by August 2021) in a directly related field to plant biology (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
  • Evidence of active research in plant biology with the potential to engage Southeast students in significant research activities
  • Experience teaching at college/university level as a graduate assistant, instructor, or above
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
