The department chair is responsible for recruiting and retaining faculty members in cooperation with the faculty and the dean’s office; assisting with career development; developing and coordinating external relationships with recruiters, alumni, and other groups; working with development staff on fund raising; and developing and communicating plans to advance the department’s goals. The department chair plans and oversees expenditures to meet departmental goals. The chair supervises staff and coordinates outcomes-assessments preparation for accreditation reviews.

As a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the Chair is expected to maintain an active research program aimed at publishing in premier and high-quality journals as recognized by the Department of Accounting. Upon arrival, the successful candidate will meet with the dean to establish their PRS (position responsibility statement) to define responsibilities in the area of administration leadership, research, teaching, and service.
