https://apply.interfolio.com/79501

The University of Washington, School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for a Research Assistant Professor, non-tenure track position at 100% FTE, effective July 1, 2021. Non-tenure track positions of this type at the University of Washington have a 12-month service period.

Our School’s social justice mission leads us to invest in recruiting colleagues who in their scholarship, teaching, and service, demonstrate experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and oppressed populations. The School of Social Work is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse, inclusive and pluralistic faculty and staff committed to research, teaching and working in a global multicultural environment.

This search is open to candidates with various research foci, including children and youth, adults, gerontology, integrated health and mental health, settings-based and community-centered research, clinical social work practice, and administration and policy. We encourage applications from both recent graduates and early career assistant professors within 3 – 5 years of receiving their doctorate. Our faculty are talented and innovative scholars bringing depth and experience in culturally responsive research at the micro, mezzo, or macro level. They are productive and creative colleagues who bring fresh perspectives and depth to the science of social work, incorporating inter-professional and trans-disciplinary perspectives, and who are drawn to work in a faculty focused on many of the Grand Challenges that have been identified in the profession.  As a program with a core mission of social justice and a deeply diverse student body, our faculty are committed to working in marginalized communities and with students holding a range of worldviews. Participation in the teaching program will be primarily through occasional classroom lectures and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.

Research faculty have a productive research trajectory with a commitment to exemplary scholarship, high quality publications, and preparation of fundable research proposals. Research faculty participate in shared governance of the School and serve on committees that implement the School’s vision across curricular, research and community activities. The University of Washington, School of Social Work is recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative, broadly collaborative, and rigorous engagement with complex social issues. Hallmarks of the School include its leadership in identifying and addressing the Grand Challenges; cutting-edge programs of prevention and intervention research; pioneering research using indigenous methodologies, innovative educational programs; and the quality of its graduates. Located in a rapidly growing, dynamic, and diverse urban setting, the School has strong interdisciplinary and community ties, and ranks among the top schools of social work in the country. Support for faculty teaching and research includes both internal departmental supports as well as University-wide centers and initiatives.
