Haverford College seeks to hire a full time, exempt (at least 37.5 hours per week), benefit eligible Director of Sourcing and Business Services. The Director of Sourcing and Business Services (Director) is responsible for strategically leading and overseeing procurement/sourcing, purchasing, P-Card, accounts payable/ employee expense reimbursement and merchant services at Haverford College.

The position will manage a team of four with three direct reports. As part of the position, the Director is responsible for driving measurable impact in the area of cost containment, economic inclusion (diversity and local purchasing), and sustainability. The Director is also responsible for working with the College stakeholders to implement and manage strategic supplier solutions and drive advancement of various procurement efforts while mitigating risk to the College. In addition, the Director shall partner with the Accounting Team within the Controller's Office and would be responsible for tax compliance issues at it relates to purchasing and business services. The Director is also accountable for driving a culture of compliance, responsible spending and superior customer service while maintaining internal controls. This position is a key leadership position within the Controller's Office and the Director is responsible for developing and executing annual plans and goals that align with the College's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:

Define, plan, implement, and assess strategic projects within the unit that advance the Controller's office and align with the College's mission, vision and strategy.

Review and/or develop policy and procedures related to sourcing, purchasing, P-Card, accounts payable and travel and employee reimbursement with a focus on compliance, internal controls, ease of doing business, technology, customer service and mission/strategic focus. Promote and train the Haverford community on such policies and procedures.

Assess, develop and implement sourcing solutions that drive measurable impact in the area of cost containment, economic inclusion (diversity and local purchasing), and sustainability. Ensure all sourcing is in compliance with applicable procurement rules, regulations, and statutes.

Oversee the development, negotiation, and implementation of contracts and agreements related to procurement activities. Act as the point person for (non-facility) purchasing contract negotiations within college departments, legal counsel, and vendors. Monitor contract changes and facilitate positive relations with vendors, staff, and legal counsel as the contract negotiation process progresses. Follow the contract process through signing of the final agreement. Develop a partnership with facility purchasing to support and work in tandem to ensure the overall goals and objectives are being met.

Assess realized benefits from sourcing and develop improvement strategies and initiatives post-sourcing. Initiate supplier improvement programs and enforce contract remedies where required. Develop category/supplier business continuity and risk mitigation strategies.

Establish, monitor and report service level goals, key performance indicators, and customer satisfaction criteria for procurement operations, procurement services, and strategic sourcing. Analyze data and report on savings generated and leverage additional procurement opportunities.

Identify, assess and leverage (or develop) informal and formal purchasing consortiums both inside and outside of the higher education community.

Oversee merchant service provider(s) partnerships with the College throughout all campus locations. Assist in implementation and upgrade enhancements where applicable, assist in troubleshooting issues and act as a liaison with Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) division at the college related to PCI Security Council Standards compliance.

Develop strong linkage with accounting team within the Controller's Office in support of maintenance of certain related general ledger accounts; provide analytical support and be responsible for financial and tax reporting and compliance related to accounts payable and purchasing.

Assist and support Accounts Payable to ensure department accountability for the receipt of goods and authorization, to result in vendor payments. Resolve any conflict between staff and vendors regarding product or service performance, billing or contract interpretation.

Be a leader in the utilization/enhancement and advancement of Workday and other technology driven solutions as it relates to sourcing, purchasing, P-Card, accounts payable and travel. Continue to enhance Workday capabilities including, but not limited to, dashboards and data analytics. Oversee training and development of the Haverford Community on Workday as it relates to the sourcing, purchasing and business services.

Line of Report: This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller, and will manage a team of four with three direct reports

Education, Training, & Experience:

A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or Supply Chain Management or similar field of study is required.

Eight years including at least five years of supervisory experience in supply chain or related field is required.

Masters of Business Administration or Masters in a related field or Certified Public Accountant is preferred.

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership, strategic vision, supervision, professional development, and training to ensure individual staff development and achievement of organizational goals. Proven ability to implement change and innovation.

Strong written and oral communication skills, decision making/problem solving and influencing and team building skills. Strategic and analytical thinker.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration between diverse groups with potentially conflicting interests in a collegial manner.

Demonstrated ability in interpreting and explaining technical and complex statutes, policies, and codes; conducting research and analysis; and reaching rational, fair conclusions from available information.

Strong understanding of information technology, benchmarking, and performance metrics.

Strong database and spreadsheet proficiency and broad experience with financial and accounting software packages.

Strong negotiating skills and the ability to create new and cultivate existing relations.

Persuasive and influential skills to bring to life new ideas in terms of Supplier Relationship Management and process improvement.

Proven ability to implement and sustain a strategic plan linked to a budget with savings and performance goals.

Must be resourceful and flexible in using available resources and technology in the most efficient manner; must be highly adaptable to technological change.
