Simpson College, a private, nationally recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, invites nominations and applications for the position of a tenure-track appointment in Assistant Professor at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2021.  

Our department supports majors in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, and Data Science and minors in Data Analytics and Mathematics. Excellence in classroom teaching, grounded in inclusive pedagogy is essential. We seek candidates with enthusiasm for conducting undergraduate research at all levels, student advising, new student recruitment, and other ways to support the mission of the institution. This includes (and is not limited to) providing effective instruction and advising to under-represented students; mentoring students from diverse backgrounds; seeking opportunities to write and develop internal and/or external grants aimed at creating an inclusive environment in the classroom and college. Candidates with interests in statistics, data science, and modeling are especially encouraged to apply.

The position will begin August 2021, and a Ph.D. is preferred in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields. Additionally, successful applicants need to have interdisciplinary interest, and experience and/or expressed interest in working at a primarily residential, liberal arts institution.
