The Biology Department at Siena College is inviting applications for a broadly trained molecular / cellular biologist to start Fall 2021.  Priority will be given to applicants whose background and research interests complement our department.  Successful candidates will be committed to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts college environment and to developing a research program that involves undergraduates.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, and post-doctoral research and/or teaching experience is strongly preferred.  Siena College strives to foster a strong sense of community and to warmly welcome people of all backgrounds.  We value an inclusive climate because we believe that diversity in experiences and perspectives is vital to advancing our College's mission.  As such, members of groups historically underrepresented in the biological sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.

Teaching duties may include participation in one or more courses in our introductory sequence for biology majors (e.g. General Biology, Writing and Research Skills for Biologists and other courses in our Cell/Molecular offerings) and upper-level course(s) in the candidate’s area of expertise (visit to view our curriculum).  The teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester.  A research lab and initial startup funds will be provided.  Our teaching and research is supported by modern facilities including the Stewart’s Advanced Instrumentation and Technology (SAInT) Center, a High Performance Computing Cluster, and extensive shared equipment housed in the Biology Department (visit to view a summary of resources).

Requirements: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, and post-doctoral research and/or teaching experience is strongly preferred.  A background screening will be required.
