    Summary of Position:

    The primary responsibility of the Program Manager for Tutor Training & Group Study is to collaborate with the Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services team to coordinate Study Groups (for high risk courses), Math/Stats and Accounting Drop-In Programs, and Academic Skills Workshops. In addition, the Program Manager manages and oversees the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) Training Program for all peer tutors. The Program Manager will also assist with the recruitment and oversight of all CLAS tutors and the Geno A. Ballotti Scholar Program.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates the Study Group Program:
      • Schedules, staffs and promotes study groups for high risk courses.
      • Communicates with faculty of high risk courses to identify and train study group leaders.
      • Schedules exam review sessions in coordination with course faculty.
      • Coordinates the Math/Stats Drop-In and Accounting Drop-In Programs:
      • In consultation with the Director of Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services, schedules and staffs the drop-in programs.
    • Oversees CRLA Training Program: Creates a yearly training curriculum based on the requirements of the CRLA.
      • Schedules and co-facilitates pre-service training and weekly training meetings.
      • Conducts and/or secures outside speakers for monthly professional development meetings.
      • Monitors staff progression from beginner level to master level tutor and certifies staff members as they reach each level of CRLA certification.
    • Coordinates Academic Skills Workshops:
      • Staffs, schedules, and promotes the workshops.
      • Creates, updates, and conducts workshops and trains other workshop facilitators.
      • Forms and maintains partnerships with other academic departments and programs for the delivery of workshops.
    • Directly oversees graduate fellows specific to workshops & CRLA training.
    • Oversees study group leaders, math/stats drop-in tutors, SBS writing fellows, accounting drop- in tutors.
    • Supervises a team of Workshop scholars (a sub-group of the Geno A. Ballotti Scholars).
    • In conjunction with other CLAS staff, supports and mentors CLAS peer and professional tutors.
    • Inputs schedules and expertise into our management system each semester.
    • Assists in day-to-day scheduling adjustments in our systems.
    • Works with the CLAS marketing team to create schedules for all tutoring and group support programs.
    • Promotes the tutoring and group support services offered each semester to faculty and students.
    • Assists with recruitment for and oversight of the Geno A. Ballotti Scholar Program.
    • Co-organizes with the McNair Scholar’s administrative team and the Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services team the Annual McNair-Ballotti Undergraduate Research Symposium offered each April.
    • Designs and facilitates pre-service training each semester.
    • Organizes tutor participation in the New England Peer Tutoring Association (NEPTA) Forum each spring.
    • Oversees the accuracy and timely updating of the CLAS content on the Suffolk University website.
    • Performs Early Alert outreach.
    • Represents the Tutoring & Peer-to-Peer Success Services team on DSS committees, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements/Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in education or a related field. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented. Ability to work well as part of a team and individually. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, social media platforms and willingness to learn new software, as needed. Previous learning/tutoring center experience and working with college level students, a plus. CRLA certification, a plus. Experience with EAB Navigate, TutorTrac, or other tutor management platforms, a plus. Experience with Constant Contact and Qualtrics, a plus. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
