The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for an Assistant Professor in decision sciences for a position beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. The Beacom School of Business is the flagship business school in South Dakota and the region with its programs consistently receiving high national rankings from institutions such as U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review and others. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes in decision sciences. An interest in or expertise in operations management and other decision sciences courses is desired. The assistant professor is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes on the main campus in Vermillion, SD and online. Duties include teaching, engaging in related scholarly research, and service for the Department, profession, and the broader community.

Required: A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Operations Management, Decision Sciences, or a related field from an accredited school is required, although ABDs with successful defense by start date will be considered. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability or potential to contribute to the scholarship of decision sciences. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and enthusiasm for engagement, service, and the public good.

Preferred Qualifications: The best applicant will have Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Operations Management, Decision Sciences, or a related field from an AACSB-International accredited business school, with the primary area in operations management or supply chain. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position’s teaching fields. Candidates with enthusiasm for working with diverse student, staff, and faculty are preferred.
