The Department of Biology and Environmental Studies at Auburn University at Montgomery ( AUM ) is currently hiring for a full-time employee, who will work as a Laboratory Coordinator to help establish guidelines, standard procedures and protocols for the smooth operation of the laboratory. The Coordinator will possess the willingness to use their expertise to assist in the university’s efforts to be a sustainable academic organization committed to excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Organizing, Preparing and delegating course material and writing assignments.

• Assisting with coordinating a laboratory in compliance with social distance policy.

• Coordinating the assessment and data collection of the core learning objectives.

• Coordinating student workers; Supervises and evaluates students’ progress in meeting designated program and course learning outcomes and monitors student progress.

• Work with adjuncts and faculty members to align content suitable for a socially distanced laboratory.

• Ensure laboratory, equipment and other accessories are in good working condition.

• Setup student laboratories; Supervise and assist in cleaning the laboratory and its ancillary rooms.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the instructors and department chair.

• Identify and report malfunctions and/or breakdown of equipment; follow up their repair.

• Ensures that the laboratory is cleaned/sanitized and kept in an orderly manner.

• Provide classroom instruction for Freshman laboratories as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Must have good computer skills (Microsoft Office and other software programs)
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to the lab and ensures all users are in compliance with those standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with science instructors, and to effectively convey information.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field and two (2) years of related work.
