Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU Department of Athletics has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Athletic Trainer!
Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The sport assignment will be Baseball. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is required to keep accurate records of all treatments of athletic injuries and to organize the training room.
Minimum Hiring Standards
-Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field or equivalent experience;
-Two (2) years’ experience working within collegiate athletics;
-Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles;
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU ; and
-Able to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.
Preferred Hiring Standards
-Experience working with collegiate or professional baseball;
-Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends; and
-Advanced degree or experience, which equates to an advanced degree.
Required Licenses/ Certifications
-Current CPR / AED /First Aid certifications and NATABOC certification.
-Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License.
