Assistant Professor - History (Early American Revolutionary War Era) - (FAC001496)
The Department of History at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Early American /Revolutionary War era history. Although all research areas will be seriously considered, candidates who have research interests that intersect with Atlantic, colonial, imperial, and Native American history are especially encouraged to apply.
Teaching responsibilities include the U.S. survey, and appropriate upper division and graduate courses in colonial American history.
The department particularly seeks a candidate with at least five years full-time experience teaching introductory survey courses in American history to a large racially and ethnically diverse student body. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience mentoring graduate students and administering a graduate program in History. Finally, experience with online teaching is a plus. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester.
The successful candidate will join a strong cohort of Americanists dedicated to excellence in teaching and scholarship in such areas including environmental, and urban development, borderlands, race and ethnicity, gender, women and family, political, war, revolution and diplomacy, and health, medicine and technology.
Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by July 2021, and should have a professional dedication to teaching and executing an active research agenda.
