Classification: Support Staff- Full Time- 12 Month- 2080 Hours

Report To:Manager of Mechanical Services

Description: Under general supervision installs, maintains, and repairs water piping systems and all plumbing fixtures and accessories following recognized procedures and techniques of the trade of plumber.


  • Repair and maintain piping systems and plumbing fixtures
  • Inspect all connections and other parts of system for leaks
  • Replace defective pipe by cutting, bending, threading and assembling pipe
  • Solder and caulk leaks and broken pipes
  • Open clogged drains
  • Repair or replace damaged fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, and bathtubs
  • As required, may estimate materials needed and record time and material expended on each work order
  • Occasionally assist other maintenance personnel in performance of their duties as assigned
  • Transport materials, tools and equipment to the work site
  • Perform other duties as assigned


    Education and/or Experience:
  • High school graduate (diploma/GED) required
  • State of Wisconsin Master Plumbers License required
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a Master Plumber
  • Skilled in the use of mathematics and the ability to read blue prints

    Other Requirements:
  • Must have valid Wisconsin motor vehicle license and be insurable under the university's insurance plan.
  • Low Pressure Boiler License or willingness to obtain one
  • Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
