We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.

The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to successfully teach a combination of courses in Human Development and Family Studies and Counselor Education. The specific teaching load will involve 12 credits in the Fall semester and 12 credits in the Spring semester. Teaching includes:

  • Individual and group counseling procedures and interventions.

Commitment to diversity is paramount to the mission of the department through service, instruction, and curriculum development. All full-time faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities, participate actively as a campus, institutional, and professional citizen, and advise undergraduate students. Outstanding teaching and mentoring contributions at the undergraduate level and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence is expected.

Minimum of a master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Counselor Education, Psychology, or related field is required for a Lecturer rank appointment. A Ph.D. is required for an Assistant Teaching Professor appointment. Commitment to high quality teaching is evidenced by the use of a variety of modalities, including contemporary distance education technologies. Demonstrated excellence in teaching lifespan development, infant and childhood development, family relationships, policy, and counseling interventions. Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in research, service, or teaching. Dedicated to teaching and mentoring first-generation, underrepresented minority, and non-traditional college students.

Applicants are required to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, diversity statement, teaching statement, and list of three references; other information pertinent to the position may also be included. Application review begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
