About the Welch College of Business and Technology

SHU's Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) is AACSB-accredited and enrolls some 2,000 students. It is housed on Sacred Heart University's west campus, approximately one kilometer from main campus. Opened in Fall 2019, in the former world headquarters of General Electric, the west campus is focused on digital innovation and how it is transforming business in the 21st century.  The campus includes state-of-the art labs, equipment, and studios to support research on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, financial computation, machine learning, augmented reality/virtual reality, and e-game design.

 

The Jack Welch College of Business and Technology (WCBT) offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Management, Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Sports Management and Fashion Marketing & Merchandising. The School of Computer Science and Engineering (which is part of the WCBT) offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science/Information Technology, Game Design and Development, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Job Description:

The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), housed strategically within the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) aspires for 'growth and excellence' in the field of cybersecurity. With this goal, the college invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in cybersecurity at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2021. All applicants with a strong background in all areas of cybersecurity will be considered; however, special emphasis will be to candidates with expertise in malware analysis, software security, systems security and applied cryptography.

 

Responsibilities include designing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, publishing in highly ranked journals and conference proceedings, establishing an externally funded research program, assisting the program for ABET accreditation and/or NSA designation, supervising student research and capstone projects, and serving school, college and university level committees. 

 

The successful candidate will enhance the current expertise in the school, which includes cyber-physical systems, network security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data analytics, game design, athlete physiology.  We take great pride in our educational values and aim to educate next generation cybersecurity specialists, computer scientists and engineers. Requirements:

A Ph.D. degree in cybersecurity or a closely related discipline with demonstrated excellence in teaching, and an active program of research is required.  Exceptionally well qualified Ph.D. students with ABD status, with a definite timeline to dissertation completion, will be considered at an Instructor rank. Experience in curriculum design and development and active learning approaches is preferred.
