The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) at Howard University consist of two nationally recognized degree programs: Master of Educational Leadership, Doctor of Educational Leadership, and one certificate program. In 2017, the Department added a Doctor of Philosophy program in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies (HELPS), which is rapidly gaining national recognition and prominence. The programs in ELPS are designed to prepare students to become educational leaders and policy professionals. The programs reflect Howard University’s commitment to addressing the needs of urban and diverse communities with a deep-rooted focus on social justice. Open-Rank, Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Position

The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is seeking to fill an open rank tenure-track faculty position in Higher Education. We are especially interested in candidates whose research is quantitative in nature and can teach courses related to Minority-Serving Institutions, specifically on the topics of executive leadership, higher education finance, or philanthropy. The successful candidate will teach in the Ph.D. program in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies (HELPS). Major responsibilities include: teaching graduate courses; sustaining a program of scholarship and publication; advising students; supervising dissertations; serving on school and university committees and other professional service activities. Preference will be given to persons who have the following: expertise in quantitative research methodology, experience serving on dissertation committees, a proven track record of high-quality research and publications, and experience securing external funding.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate degree in higher education or a closely related field from an accredited university. Starting date for position is August 16, 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
