Provost and Senior Vice President

Monmouth University, a top-tier private university in one of the most desirable locations in the Northeast, is seeking applications for a Provost and Senior Vice President. Monmouth University is one of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” in the Regional Universities North category, is listed in The Princeton Review’s “The Best 386 Colleges: 2021 Edition” and Money magazine’s 2020-2021 “Best Colleges,” and is recognized in Washington Monthly’s annual college guide and rankings.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic, collaborative, and highly effective administrative professional to lead faculty and academic administration in the pursuit of distinction and excellence.  The senior leadership position will provide oversight of an academic enterprise that includes more than 700 faculty (317 full-time; 385 part-time) in six academic schools, 33 undergraduate majors, 26 master’s and doctoral programs, the Honors School, the Educational Opportunity Fund program, Graduate Studies, the university library, and several administrative units including the Center for Student Success, the Global Education Office, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Office of Research Compliance, and the Provost’s Office. The University enrolls approximately 5,700 students.

Just an hour from New York City and Philadelphia, Monmouth University sits at the heart of a region with vibrant arts and cultural offerings and a thriving economy with an expanding technology sector, fueled by entrepreneurship. The University’s 168‑acre coastal campus has been named one of the most beautiful in the world and blends the classic beauty of two National Historic Landmarks with state-of-the-art facilities.

The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate with at least 10 years of experience in academe; a distinguished record of academic accomplishments in the academy, including effective teaching, scholarly activity, and service at a level consistent with the appointment to rank of associate professor with tenure; demonstrated successful progressive administrative experience in higher education that includes strategic planning, budgeting, hiring, and personnel administration; and exceptional management, supervisory, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications include experience working in a collective bargaining environment; experience with undergraduate and graduate program development and assessment; strong financial and budgetary experience; experience with management and delivery of premier instruction through online and hybrid modalities; experience with interdisciplinary and cross-school, collaborative program development; experience with securing institutional and program-based accreditation; experience with securing and administering grants and contracts; evidence of fostering community engagement and outreach; and a commitment to student professional development and career success.
