Assistant Professor in School Counseling
Pittsburg State University seeks a faculty member in School Counseling committed to high-quality teaching for a full-time, tenure-earning position in the Department of Psychology and Counseling (http://www.pittstate.edu/psych). Position begins on August 9, 2021, and will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising, and supervision. Scholarly activity in the area of school counseling is desirable and service to the department, college and university are required. The candidate filling the position will be part of the M.S. School Counseling program. Required qualifications include a master’s degree in Counseling and doctoral degree in Counselor Education or related counseling area (ABD will be considered, if degree is to be received by 9/1/21), teaching experience in higher education, experience in supervising graduate student trainee fieldwork experiences in the school counseling practicum and school counseling internship courses, and an active research agenda. Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching undergraduate and/or master's level courses in Educational Psychology, Program Planning and Management in School Counseling, Contemporary and Ethical Issues in School Counseling, School Counseling Practicum and Internship, experience working as a professional school counselor in elementary and/or secondary school settings, professional memberships in school counseling and other professional organizations. Additional courses could include Group Dynamics, Career Development, or Family Counseling. Salary will be from a base of $50,000 for nine months. The Department of Psychology and Counseling serves nearly 300 undergraduate majors and 120 graduate students (including: general, clinical, behavior analysis, and school psychology; and school counseling). Excellence in teaching is emphasized in the department.
