Lecturer Part-Time Temporary in Spanish

The School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Lecturer Part-Time Temporary faculty position.  This position is not tenure eligible.  The length of appointment is 3 months to teach one or two sections of lower division Spanish during Winter quarter (January-March) of 2021.  The appointment is contingent upon adequate enrollment.

The Tacoma campus of the University of Washington was founded in 1990 with an interdisciplinary approach at its foundation. It has evolved into a thriving downtown campus that serves students of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds in the South Puget Sound. Faculty have access to the resources of the University of Washington, a major research university, including an extensive library system, but work and teach within a small campus setting. Candidates should have a Master's degree or higher in Spanish or a relevant field, native or native-like fluency in Spanish and English, 3 or more years’ experience teaching Spanish at the college/university level. The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with a strong record of teaching excellence in lower division Spanish, have the ability to use educational technology effectively, have experience with online teaching, demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to the communicative approach to language teaching and learning, the ability to engage with students from a culturally diverse population, and a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.

Letter describing your teaching experience, qualifications, and academic interests (Applicants should detail how their teaching, service and/or scholarship has supported the success of students from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in their academic field; applicants who have not yet had the opportunity for such experience should note how their work will further UW Tacoma’s commitment to diversity);
2. Curriculum vitae, including a list of courses taught;
3. Evidence of teaching effectiveness (course evaluations and/or a video teaching demonstration and sample syllabi); and
4. Three letters of reference.
