The School of Cybersecurity, Data Science, & Computing (CDSC) at Norwich University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with a specialization in Digital Forensics.  This position is to commence fall of 2021, depending on the selected candidate's availability.

Within the School, computer science, cybersecurity, data science, and digital forensics are all closely aligned.  The Norwich Computer Security and Information Assurance (CSIA) program is one of the few recognized nationally as both a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (by the National Security Agency), and a Center of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence (by the U.S. Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center). In February of 2014 the Ponemon Institute rated the program #2 out of 403 in the nation for cybersecurity education with regard to academic excellence, practical relevance, experience and expertise of the program faculty, experience and background of the students and alumni, and professional reputation in the cybersecurity community.

The School of CDSC and the CSIA program employ innovative teaching practices with undergraduate students having actively contributed to real criminal investigations, up-to-the-minute cyber-threat analyses, research, and public and private internships. Program instruction includes forensics of networks, mobile devices, malware, IoT devices, novel platforms, and active attack-and-defend scenarios. These opportunities are enhanced and supported by the Norwich University Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education & Research (CyFER).  The CDSC employs innovative teaching models to involve undergraduate students in research and professional practice early in their education. Preference will be given to those with experience in these or other innovative and practical teaching methods, and in maintaining or furthering such methods.

The University seeks a doctorally-prepared, entrepreneurial, and innovative scholar/practitioner to join this strong and growing program in its next evolutionary step.

Duties include teaching required undergraduate cybersecurity courses, course development, student advising, academic service, and research with a focus on Digital Forensics. Start-up funds and other resources are available to support participation in scholarly endeavors.

Beyond expertise in digital forensics, preference will be given to those with teaching experience, a record of recent and ongoing academic research and publication, or real-world experience in one or more of the following: virtual systems, operating systems, assembly language, programming languages (esp. C++, Python, Assemby), cloud computing, reverse engineering, computer networks, information security, digital forensics, risk analysis & mitigation, or policy development. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applicants must already be legally eligible to work without restriction in the United States.

To apply, submit an application letter, brief research and teaching statements, a current CV, and contact information for at least three references:  https://norwich.interviewexchange.com. The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications immediately and continue until the position is filled.
