Position Summary:

The UW-Madison Art Department is seeking an entry-level staff member who will support the department's advising and enrollment goals through the promotion of its undergraduate certificate and degree programs. This employee will provide timely, accurate, and supportive advising to potential and current art students, initially working primarily with students in art and design certificate programs as well as with high school students and families. Employee will interface with representatives in Office of Admissions, with marketing professionals on and off campus, including School of Education staff and graphic and multi-media designers. Will provide information and updates on art programs to campus advising units, including Cross-College Advising, School of Education Student Services. Candidate will thrive in a high energy, fast-paced, professional, and positive team environment. Preferably, applicants will have familiarity with the UW campus and processes. The position reports to the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Art.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in art or design highly preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Two years minimum experience teaching high school or college-level art; or one year minimum experience in college/university student services; some experience with recruiting students for college art programs. Must be fluent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as various digital imaging technologies. Able to quickly learn university technological systems (SIS, ANS). Will have substantial experience working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment where strong attention to detail is crucial. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and InDesign, is preferred.
