POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of Saint Mary, a Catholic liberal arts university
in Leavenworth, Kansas, invites applications for a faculty position
in Chemistry / Physics at its main campus in Leavenworth. USM
has experienced significant enrollment growth over the past few
years, including the programs housed in the Division of Natural
Sciences and Mathematics, the biology, chemistry and mathematics
programs. The position may be eligible for tenure-track
based on qualifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching, advising and service to the university. Candidates should have the ability to teach a wide range of chemistry and physics courses including General Chemistry I and II, Physics I and II, and Physical Chemistry I and II, all with labs. Faculty is expected to participate in university governance through committee work at the division and university levels. USM and the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics have a close, collegial faculty dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Ph.D. in either physical chemistry or a closely-related field are
strongly preferred. ABDs nearing completion of their degree
will be considered based on the amount time remaining to
completion. Prior teaching at the college level is preferred.
