As part of the Miami Online team, the Learning Design & Communications Coordinator serves a vital role in supporting the Miami online educational experience.  The Learning Design & Communications Coordinator, is responsible for managing the implementation and evaluation of online learning and assists in online program development processes.  The position facilitates faculty support initiatives, including training and resource development and dissemination, and internal outreach and communications. In addition to actively collaborating with the learning design team, media specialists, and departmental leadership, this role is a liaison between Miami Online and various support units across the university. The successful candidate is committed to a high standard of quality, and is comfortable working independently and in a group setting.

Duties of the position include and are not limited to:

Learning design coordination:

  • Coordinates the implementation and evaluation of online learning
  • Collects, organizes, and tracks all documentation associated with the assessment of online instruction
  • Assists Learning Design team with a wide variety of instructional design tasks in preparation for launching online programs and courses
  • Assists the Director of Digital Learning and Associate Director of Online Operations in executing strategies and plans for online programs that promote the overall university’s strategic initiatives

Faculty Support and Content Development:

  • Identifies, plans, and facilitates training and professional development opportunities
  • Moderates live webinars as needed
  • Contributes to resource and training documentation development with Learning Technologist and other team members
  • Facilitates dissemination of resources through web, print, and social media
  • Documents feedback and audits results to help identify strengths as well as areas for improvement
  • Assists in providing faculty with learning technology support and completing help tickets as needed

Internal Communications:

  • Coordinates with and acts as a liaison between Miami Online and various support units and services across the university
  • Facilitates contract routing and approval
  • Coordinates with Office of Procurement, IT Services, and external vendors as needed
  • Evaluates and establishes relationships with multiple vendors
  • Consults on contractual arrangements
  • Manages, monitors, and reviews internal communications
  • Coordinates internal outreach
  • Edits and approves all internal messaging and copy
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, communication, organizational development
  • 1 or more years of experience supporting online learning or providing technology support
  • Knowledge of current instructional design frameworks and methods, as well as QM and OLC standards
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating internal communications
  • Advanced skill with oral and written communication, presentation design and delivery, and data collection and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with others, in a variety of contexts (e.g., one-on-one, small groups) to accomplish goals
  • Ability to organize and pay attention to details

Desired qualifications:
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with knowledge of and experience in higher education or a similar field
  • Experience working with members of a learning design team, including instructional designers and video producers
  • Experience working with confidential information, CRM, registration software
  • Experience with learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Open edX)
  • Knowledge of user experience (UX) and/or learning experience (LX) design principles and WCAG standards
  • Experience collaborating and working on marketing efforts
  • Experience with content management systems (Cascade, Drupal, Wordpress) a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
