Job Summary/Basic Function:

Reports to the Dean of Student Services; provides overall leadership, direction, staff supervision/training, and evaluation/assessment for the following:

  • Student Life programming of the College, including strategically planning, directing, and implementing co-curricular student initiatives and programs. This includes budgeting and allocating resources for Student Life; supervising full-time, part-time, and student employees; assessing the effectiveness of the programs and services including identifying program goals, methods of assessment, criteria of success, collection of data, and use of data for continuous improvement;  
  • New Student Orientation program for all first-time in college students, including establishing outcomes and assessments, and collecting assessment data for ongoing improvements;
  • Student Wellness and Basic Needs programming, including Gator Mart operations, emergency aid funding, financial wellness training, and community partnerships;
  • Health and Wellness Program, including the Fitness Loft, Intramural sports programs, and Gymnasium facilities, including monitoring equipment status and coordinating repairs;
  • BC’s Student Government at local, regional and state level, including providing training and directing student government members’ travel and sponsors events;
  • new student organization program, including developing and providing officer training and risk management training to organization officers and members; working with organizations to develop outcomes and assessments; ensuring such conform to college policies; consulting with the Dean of Student Services in the appointment of faculty sponsors;
  • Hiring, training, and evaluating Student Life Board (SLB) workers (15+):
  • the student game room facility (The Swamp), including training and scheduling workers and monitoring equipment and coordinating repairs;
  • This position also serves as Title IX Deputy Coordinator, which includes training in the Title IX processes and working with Title IX Coordinator to analyze federal and local policies and handle Title IX complaints; and
  • performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for this position are the following:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Student Development, Higher Education Administration, or closely related field;
  • demonstrated leadership of college student life programming (minimum 2 to 3 years)(community college experience preferred);
  • supervisory experience preferred;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills;
  • computer competency including using Microsoft Office Professional software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • demonstrated ability working with culturally diverse populations; ability to work in a team; and
  • other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one's value to the institution (exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration).
Desirable Qualifications:

It is preferred that the candidate’s experience and leadership in student life be at a community college.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
