The Department of Art, Art History and Design at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in sculpture at the rank of assistant professor to begin fall 2021.

The Department seeks an innovative artist with an expanded understanding of contemporary practice in sculpture, including conceptual approaches, craft-based investigations, digital advances in sculpture, and courses at the intersection of art and design. Candidates should be knowledgeable in the technical and critical aspects of the medium and highly committed to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to sculpture in a multidisciplinary curriculum. Qualified applicants must have an active exhibition record that demonstrates a trajectory of increasing recognition required of a research and teaching university. The appointed faculty member will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, engage in academic and professional service, participate in departmental critiques and MFA theses, and work collaboratively across all three divisions of the department. The terminal degree (MFA) in studio art is required for this position. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of teaching and professional experience beyond graduate school.

The Department of Art, Art History, and Design has twenty-two full-time faculty members and is located within the College of Arts and Letters. The studio art program is one part of an exciting, trans-disciplinary creative studies department including studio artists, art historians, and visual communication and industrial designers. The Snite Museum of Art and the Charles B. Hayes Sculpture Park are located on campus and the University will soon break ground on the new Raclin-Murphy Art Museum.
