The Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University seeks applicants for a full-time Sculpture Studio Manager at the rank of Academic Professional to begin August 2017.  Salary is dependent upon a candidate’s professional and academic experience and accomplishments and is pending budgetary approval. Position Summary

We seek an exceptional artist, educator, and administrator who will join our team of vibrant, creative professionals that includes 30+ full-time faculty in art, design, and art history serving over 1000 art & design majors across nine separate disciplines. This position reports directly to the Director of the Welch School of Art & Design and will work with other faculty, developing and implementing vision and oversight of discipline-specific lab areas throughout the School.  Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to enhance the program and to foster excellence in our students and should demonstrate a commitment to lab safety and procedure as they relate to artistic practice and student learning.  This position can serve as representative on various School-, College-, and University-level committees and can have a teaching load up to, but not exceeding, 50% full-time effort.

 

Necessary Qualifications: An MFA in Studio by time of appointment, with course work in threedimensional studies including design and fabrication techniques in a variety of media, and an in-depth knowledge of managing studio machinery and studio practice is required.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:  A minimum of two years’ experience in a sculpture studio, particularly within an academic setting, is preferred.
