This is a 10-month position

This position provides assistance and support to students/patients, as well as administrative support to the departmental staff and functions within the Barnes Center. Serves as initial point of contact for students, parents and visitors coming to any of the Barnes Center Health and Wellness services, with the capacity to interact with over 200 patients daily. In collaboration with co-workers, answer incoming phone calls, create messages in Electronic Medical Record to send to nurses and schedule appointments daily.

The position will be trained to serve in a variety of offices depending on staffing needs, office coverage and phone volume.
Position is also trained to answer emails in Orange Tracker from students with health insurance questions and data enter
immunization information into the Electronic Medical Record.

Qualifications

High school diploma with experience in records management and office operations.

Job Specific Qualifications

Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.

Proficient with current office technologies.

Comfortable with medical jargon and discussing personal health matters.

Able to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.

Related office experience desired.

Strong customer service skills.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Greet and check students in at time of appointment. Provide students with necessary paperwork for completion. Enter billable insurance information into their account. Scan billing agreements and insurance cards into patient’s account. Create tickets for office visits/no show charges.

Answer incoming phone calls, scheduling appointments, and/or take messages for the nurses and providers.

Collaborate with nurses, medical providers and psychiatric providers in coordinating student care.

Enter immunization information into student’s electronic health record and scan health history forms/immunization records into their electronic health record.

Provide customer service in the Student Health Insurance Office, assisting parents/students with waiver process, refunds, policy questions, etc.
