Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The successful candidate will teach 9 credit hours each semester (Fall/Spring) in the special education program. Courses will be taught in face-to-face, blended, and online delivery formats. The candidate will build and sustain a consistent record of scholarly achievement, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at regional, national, and/or international conferences. The candidate will work to build positive relationships with students, staff, faculty, and other key stakeholders. Maintain a scholarly productivity agenda. Will participate fully in departmental, college and university meetings and committees.

Educational Requirements for the Position

Doctoral degree in special education or related field.

Experience Required for the Position

The successful candidate will possess a record of scholarly achievement that merits appointment as an assistant or associate professor. At least three years prior experience working in K-12 school settings with students with disabilities. Experience teaching in special education. Evidence of or potential for publishing scholarly work in special education.

Other Requirements for the Position

Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: academic and behavioral interventions/supports in inclusive educational settings; multi-tiered systems of support, such as response-to-intervention, positive behavioral interventions and supports; and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse students with disabilities. Established research agenda and record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations in special education. Track record of writing and receiving grants in special education. Experience with program assessment and accreditation at the K-12 and/or higher education levels. Demonstrated record of collaboration and service within the field of special education at the regional and/or national level. Other duties as assigned.
