OVERVIEW:
Year Up’s National Development Team seeks an experienced and dynamic fundraiser and manager to lead a regional Development team charged with securing philanthropic support across multiple markets to fund program operations, growth, and innovation.

Reporting to the National Director of Development, the Regional Director of Development will be responsible for leading a team of fundraisers to achieve their cash and revenue goals. The Regional Director will directly manage Development staff members in their region. They will support the Development team in engaging prospects, managing pipelines, closing gifts and executing high quality cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes.

As an ideal candidate for this position, you are someone who wants to leverage your demonstrated fundraising skills, leadership abilities, and effective management practices in a mission-driven so cial enterprise. You’ll possess top notch relationship building and management skills, with an ability to immediately build rapport with staff, young adults, and external organizations/individuals. A successful Regional Director will bring a dynamic leadership style and an outcomes-oriented approach to Development.

In keeping with Year Up’s values, the Regional Director of Development will have the opportunity to interact with Year Up students regularly to help create and sustain a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Revenue Generation (Fundraising)
* Meet or exceed personal fundraising cash and revenue targets
* Ensure maintenance of accurate records of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities in Year Up’s Salesforce Database

Development Strategy
* Develop and execute regional fundraising strategy in partnership with the National Director of Development
* Drive fundraising activity in region, managing to clear goals and performance metrics
* Communicate pipeline progress and status to goal on consistent basis to critical stakeholders
* Partner with and leverage National shared services team to provide training and support to team
* Ensure maintenance of accurate records of development activities in Salesforce Database

Team Leadership
* Drive team performance, ensuring fundraising cash and revenue targets for direct reports are met
* Manage direct reports in a collaborative, team-based environment, thinking through staff development, roles, and team growth as needed in order to maximize the philanthropic potential of the region
* Embody servant leadership style to empower strengths of all team members
* Work closely with National Director of Development, other Development leadership, Executive Directors and other functional teams to ensure alignment to strategy, process, and cross-team collaboration
* Other duties as assigned

Site Team/Learning Community Member
* Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
* Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
* Participate in staff meetings and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS:
* 10+ years of Development experience, inclusive of personal experience closing 6 and 7 figure gifts
* 5+ years of people management experience, including leading by influence
* Successful track record in fundraising positions
* Ability to successfully work with multiple stakeholders in different markets in different positions, with an eye towards collaboration, alignment and high service
* Demonstrated ability to set direction, manage complex processes, and enable high-quality organizational growth
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage the pipeline process
* Documented strengths in meaningful relationship building, people management and development, and organizational growth
* Desire to work in a fluid dynamic organization, and interest in the nonprofit space
* Ability to lead, willingness to be led, comfort with situational leadership
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, familiarity with Salesforce.com helpful
* A passion for working with young adults, an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of Year Up
