Position Summary:

This is a Microbiology Laboratory Technician-Senior position in the Virology section at the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Madison, WI. Duties include a variety of laboratory tasks which support the daily operations of the WVDL, such as assisting with the virology section sample receiving and processing, preparing samples for testing, preparing reagents, and maintaining laboratory equipment. This position requires attention to detail, self-motivation and strong communication skills.

This position works under the general supervision of the Virology section supervisor and under the scientific direction of the Virology section head.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Two years of laboratory experience working in the biological sciences is preferred.

Successful candidates will possess the following:
- effective oral and written communication skills
- ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- ability to use computers
- ability to work independently under general supervision, including the ability to manage time constraints and multiple tasks.

Work Schedule:

Core business hours are between 7:45am and 4:30pm with a 45 minute lunch break.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 12 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $15.00 HOURLY
