The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Science at American University invites applicants for a position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to examine interfacial behavior in thin polymer films and polymer composites. The qualified candidate will work with Dr. Douglas Fox’s research group. The appointment is a 12-month term position and will commence on or after December 1, 2020, contingent on funding.

Applicants must have a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or related field. Candidates with skills in analytical chemistry techniques, polymer synthesis, polymer composite processing, co-polymer synthesis, and materials characterization are desired. Preference will be given to those with experience in column chromatography, thermoset preparations, bioinspired composites, thin coatings, interfacial analysis, and electrochemistry.
