Job Summary

The Center for Student Involvement welcomes applications for Coordinator for Student Organizations . This position reports to the Assistant Director for Student Engagement, who oversees the Engagement area within the Center for Student Involvement. The position specifically supports regular operations for Recognized Student Organizations including managing operations within the student organization management system, developing programs and resources for student organization advisors and partners, coordinating and facilitating leadership development training, and improving the onboarding experience for new student organizations. The Coordinator plays a key role in the management of student organizations by serving as a liaison to an assigned caseload of student organizations. The position will also support the CSI Finance Team with data collection and financial reporting through the management of funding assessments such as the post-spending report. Additionally, the position will work with a variety of colleagues and campus partners to ensure student organization information is regularly communicated, including managing the student organization newsletter. The coordinator will assist CSI leadership with financial management and student organization registration planning. This position supervises student staff members. This is a position that interacts with all levels of staff and is expected to work regular business hours and occasional evenings and weekends.

Who We Are

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is a service department of the University of Colorado Boulder Student Government (CUSG) within the Division of Student Affairs. We cultivate an environment for building vibrant, engaging and safe communities through programming, leadership development, cultural awareness and learning opportunities.

We also serve as banker, bookkeeper, travel agent, purchasing department, and event manager for student organizations. Student organizations using university facilities must maintain an account and conduct their business through our office. Funding for student organizations granted from university sources is also placed in appropriate accounts through us.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Manage daily operations and functions of the student organization management system, including regularly handling student organization updates, troubleshooting student organization issues, and processing existing and new organization registrations.
  • Manage the post spending report and coordinate student organization finance information, including updating resources for students and the website.
  • Advise or co-advise a student funding board.
  • Perform and supervise administrative and managerial responsibilities for student staff members.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and assessment of student organization leadership development programming.
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the University for student organizations. Serve as a resource to student groups by applying student development theory to the step-by-step event planning and risk management advising. Assist in student organization training efforts.
  • Develop and implement support services for student organization advisors and campus partners.
  • Organize, coordinate, and implement CSI informational programming and presentations, such as Admitted Students Day and New Student Welcome Days.
  • Maintain accurate budget expenditure records, and plans for future contingency funds.
  • Other related duties as assigned including staffing additional department and campus wide events and committee work.

What We Require

  • A bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience coordinating, planning, and implementing trainings in a higher education setting.
  • One year of experience advising student organizations or boards.

Leadership involves both the individual role of a leader and the leadership process of individuals working together to envision, plan, and affect change in organizations and respond to broad-based constituencies and issues. This can include working with students, student affairs colleagues, faculty, and community members.
  • Organizational & Human Resources: Recognizes that student affairs professionals bring personal strengths and grow as managers through challenging themselves to build new skills in the following:
  • Selection, supervision, motivation, and formal evaluation of staff
  • Technology: focuses on the use of digital tools, resources, and technologies for the advancement of student learning, development, and success as well as the improved performance of student affairs professionals.
  • Law, Policy & Governance: includes the knowledge, skills, and dispositions relating to policy development processes used in various contexts, the application of legal constructs, compliance/policy issues, and the understanding of governance structures on one's professional practice.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with an organization management system such as Orgsync, Engage, Presence, or CollegiateLink.
  • Experience facilitating trainings for students and student leaders surrounding topics such as leadership development, group dynamics, or learning styles.
  • Solid understanding of student development theory.
  • Master's degree in the social sciences, higher education or college student personnel.
  • Supervisory experience.
