MINIMUM PAY RATE : $87,428 annually

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller position is responsible for providing oversight in the maintenance of the financial records of the College. This includes the direct supervision of the Accounts Payable staff and the Accounting Manager position, which oversees the Financial Services department’s accounting staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide oversight in the maintenance of a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transaction of the district. Assume responsibility for all Financial Services department operations in the absence of the Controller.
2. Utilize financial data to develop reports, statements, financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and recommendations.
3. Evaluate, recommend, establish, and monitor business process enhancement efforts including financial policy recommendations to improve financial operations, internal controls, and customer service.
4. Monitor cash flow projections and evaluate investment options for the College. Maintain a continuous audit of all cash and investments and ensure the College is in compliance with cash and investment policies and procedures.

5. Establish and implement appropriate internal controls to safeguard College assets as it pertains to the transmittal of ACH files and initiating and approving wire transfers.
6. Oversee the fiscal administration of all federal, state and private source grant programs including the formulation, interpretation and implementation of accounting procedures to comply with government regulations, donor requirements and college policies. Act as primary liaison with program monitors.
7. Possess working knowledge of federal regulations regarding fiscal management of federal funds in accordance with OMB Circulars.
8. Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements and board reports.
9. Represent the College and the Financial Services department by serving on various administrative committees and coordinate administrative tasks within the department as requested by the Controller.
10. Lead the College’s year-end closing process in preparation for the annual audit which includes drafting financial statements, the annual A-133 audit, work papers, and schedules as needed.
11. Oversee the preparation of regulatory reporting and provide Federal and State regulatory guidance.
12. Interact with students, vendors, and employees in order to resolve issues or conflicts.
13. Perform related duties as assigned.
