Job Summary
The Coordinator of Academic Advising assists the Director of Student Development Services in the development, implementation and management of online academic advising. This position organizes, supervises and coordinates all aspects related to academic advising. This position reports to the Director of Student Development Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinates online academic advising for TCC Connect Campus
• Promotes an integrated effort in the administration of the campus by cooperating and coordinating with other administrators and staff when appropriate
• Assists with Advising Case Management, including documentation of advisor assignments and visits
• Serves on committees as directed and attends appropriate professional meetings
• Works creatively with students, staff, and college personnel in developing academic advisor best practices
• Coordinates the development and implementation of academic advisor training and training materials
• Assists in the planning, developing and promoting of ways and means of ongoing professional staff development including teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
• Provides a climate for on-going evaluation of this administrative unit
• Participates as the Academic Advising Administration of TCC Connect Campus while serving on college committees and projects as assigned
• As delegated by the director, supervises office and staff as delegated by the Director, including scheduling staff, planning and implementation of regular staff meetings and communications
• Assists the Director of Student Development Services in the preparation of a budget and administers that budget as approved
• Keeps open effective channels of communication with students, faculty and staff
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Three (3) years of experience in higher education in academic advising and student services
• Two (2) years of full-time experience with online academic advising
• One (1) year of supervisory experience with Student Development Services
• Demonstrated experience in interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with diverse staff
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• One (1) year of teaching experience
• One (1) year of experience in a community college environment
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with computerized systems
