Description: Per course adjunct for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential program's course, EDAD 349B-01.

EDAD 349B-01 - Supervised Field Placement

Fridays: February 12, 2020, March 26, 2020, May 14, 2020, 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Saturdays: February 13, 2020, March 27, 2020, May 15, 2020, 8:30am-5:00pm

In this course candidates have the opportunity to practice and reflect on each of the skills they have learned in their preparation to lead a school community through supervised, planned activities. This practice follows a work plan, which is aligned with the activities for completing the California Administrative Performance Assessment (CalAPA). The work plan is developed collaboratively with the candidate, partner fieldwork supervisor, and the course instructor.

In 349B, the culminating course for the program, each student develops a program portfolio, which documents the candidate’s reflective, self-analytical formative assessment and the candidate’s record of professional, intellectual, and personal growth using artifacts from the field experience.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a master’s degree or doctorate in education, educational leadership, teaching leadership, or a related field. At least three years of experience in an administrative role as a school-based leader or work experience in a TK-12 setting. Familiarity with the California Administrative Performance Assessment (CalAPA). Knowledge of the current context of public schooling including the California adopted TK-12 content standards, such as the California Professional Standards for the Teaching Profession.

Familiarity with online modalities.

Experience teaching at the higher education level; current knowledge of principal preparation and research in school leadership; knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation; A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and equity, which ensures candidates understand pedagogical approaches that recognize the importance of supporting all students - especially students from historically underserved communities.
