The Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the College of Education at Florida State University (FSU) is seeking qualified applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies (ISLT). 

 

The ISLT program at FSU is one of the first in the world to offer graduate degrees in instructional systems and continues to rank among the very best in the field. The program currently offers MS, EdD, and PhD degrees as well as several graduate certificates. ISLT has a strong focus on instructional systems design, emerging learning technologies, and performance improvement. We prepare practitioners to analyze complex learning and performance problems and to design, develop, and evaluate appropriate solutions to improve learning and performance. We also prepare scholars to identify and pursue important research questions and conduct rigorous studies on learning and performance. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Maintain a robust program of research in instructional systems and learning technologies, including publishing in top-tier journals;
  • Develop and teach graduate-level courses in online, face-to-face, and blended learning environments; 
  • Mentor graduate students and advise doctoral dissertations; 
  • Pursue external funding opportunities;
  • Play an integral role in collaborating with colleagues, students, and alumni to maintain a strong program community and identity; and
  • Provide service to the program, department, college, and profession.

 

Qualifications: 

Candidates for this position are required to have an earned doctorate in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies or a closely related field from an accredited university. ABD candidates may be considered only if they will have their degree conferred no later than Summer 2021. The successful candidate should have a clearly articulated research focus with a record of publications, presentations, and funding, as appropriate to time in the field. 

 

Preferences:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience:

  • teaching in online, face-to-face, and/or blended learning settings;
  • designing learning and performance solutions using a wide variety of technologies; 
  • working with a diverse and international student body.

 

Preferred candidates should also have: 

  • knowledge and skill to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: instructional systems design, performance improvement, learning analytics, program evaluation, and needs assessment; 
  • a demonstrated commitment to equity, ethics, and social justice.
