JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). This is a full-time, exempt position with a start date of February 1, 2021.

The individual in this position will serve as a consultant to employees and management in designated departments, and will develop and nurture partnerships to assess and anticipate human resources-related needs. Under general supervision, the HRBP will be responsible for performing a range of functions related to human resources management, compensation administration, performance management, employee relations, and other complex and routine human resources services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Human Resources Department to develop policies, programs, and solutions
  • Maintain accurate position control spreadsheets for designated departments in collaboration with controller, monitoring budgeted allocations with staffing requirements
  • Assist managers in developing and/or editing job descriptions
  • Determine FLSA status and benchmark compensation
  • Submit annual affirmative action employee data file to vendor
  • Respond to requests for information from EEOC, Unemployment Division, and other agencies
  • Audit employee records for correctness and reconcile discrepancies
  • Manage HR technologies such as applicant tracking system and demonstrate proficiency in use of HRIS


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five years of professional level HR consultant or generalist experience is required
  • Supervisory experience helpful
  • Considerable knowledge required of principles of Human Resource management
  • Proficiency with Excel and other Office applications and virtual meeting platforms necessary
  • Working knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field is required
  • Professional certification required; Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity in changing situations with varying needs required
  • Proficiency with Banner HRIS helpful
  • Experience with AAPs helpful
