The School of Business serves a diverse undergraduate population of nearly 800 students and a graduate population of over 150 MBA and MS Accounting students. The primary responsibility of the Academic Advisor, Undergraduate Programs is advising undergraduate students in various Options and Concentrations in the Undergraduate programs. This includes minors and other future undergraduate programs, and secondarily advising graduate business students. The Academic Advisor, Undergraduate Programs will be responsible for the full life cycle of student advising, from matriculation to graduation, as well as administrative duties related to student retention and success. The advisor will liaise with multiple offices across campus to stay current on university student services, policies, and procedures.


Academic Advising & Student Retention:
• Advise students via remote media, telephone, email, and in-person meetings at the Bothell campus and Eastside Leadership Center in Bellevue. Provide guidance on academic planning, requirements and elective planning, and financial aid and scholarship resources available.
• Develop, in coordination with the Associate Dean and Associate Director, strategies to improve and maintain student retention.
• Track quarterly student enrollment using computerized confidential student records tracking enrollment management systems such as EARS, SDB, Navigate, BI Portal and My Grad.
• Closely monitor and address student concerns and issues. Escalate to Assistant Director as needed.
• Maintain and provide accurate information on academic progress, program requirements, policies, procedures and dates/deadlines. Run student degree audits and manage degree requests and graduation activities.
• Conduct orientation programs for incoming students. Design and update orientation and onboarding materials and maintain student Handbook of policies and procedures.
• Improve, update and conduct Major Planning and Graduation Application group advising workshops to ensure students get assistance with their academic planning and graduation applications are submitted.
• Lead advisor to students admitted in the Freshman Direct Program.

Program Administration:
• Under the direction of the Assistant Director, and in consultation with the Associate Dean and Program faculty, develop and maintain policies and procedures for student services.
• Create/modify/maintain surveys, class lists, and listservs. Generate information for reports using databases and other resources.
• Process petitions and paperwork for Diversity Petitions, Independent Studies and Internships, Business Consulting, etc. Collaborate with Assistant Director, Associate Dean and faculty as needed.
• Update and maintain Canvas sites for advising workshops.
• Provide course scheduling support and assist with course change and new course applications. Assist with maintaining the UW time schedule system and all relevant registration information for all degree program.
• Serve as School of Business representative in various campus committees.
• Act as a liaison with the Registrar’s Office, CIE, DEM, and other campus partners.
• Serve as School of Business expert on existing student policies and procedures.
• Attend meetings and trainings as needed.
• Assist with web content updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Recruiting Services and Event Planning:
• In collaboration with the Undergraduate team, assist in planning and represent School of Business Undergraduate Programs at various student events
• Assist the Business program team to develop processes, reports, strategies, events, marketing, and recruiting materials to track and enhance recruiting and admissions results.
Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in student counseling, recruiting or teaching in higher education.
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in standard office software.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with a diverse constituency.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

• More than three years of student counseling, recruiting or teaching experience in higher education.
