The Sr. Digital Strategist will be responsible for collaboratively crafting and executing an enterprise digital strategy for Syracuse University. The Digital Strategist will work with the Director of Digital Strategy and other team members to make decisions concerning information architecture, user experience and content presentation on partner and flagship properties as needed. The Digital Strategist leverages their advanced knowledge of digital marketing and content management to advance marketing and organizational goals. The strategist executes as part of larger integrated marketing strategies on behalf of the University and/or individual units within the University. An excellent communicator, with a sense of empathy and human context to drive sensitive insights that help design solutions that serve audience needs . A collaborative thinker, with listening skills as the primary tool for success. A positive team player with the ability to strategically and operationally lead teams to develop and implement integrated content, marketing and digital plans to advance strategic organizational objectives. In addition to being highly organized, the Strategist is a creative person and has an eager eye on digital marketing best practices, particularly when it comes to good content and user experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of in-depth, hands on experience in configuring, maintaining and customizing content within a content management system.

• Three (3) plus years of experience developing and implementing digital strategies.

Job Specific Qualifications

• A deep understanding of digital strategy components and best practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent writer and editor with significant attention to detail.

• Extensive knowledge of google analytics and google tag manager.

• Working knowledge of SEO tactics and standards.

• Track-record of relationship building.

• Solid project manager, able to juggle large volumes of work.

Responsibilities

• Create, manage and maintain digital strategies as a part of larger integrated marketing strategies on behalf of the University and/or in collaboration with individual units within the University.

• Partners with schools, colleges and programs to make strategic decisions and provides guidance regarding information architecture and digital content presentation.

• Serves as a champion and key advisor in operationalizing digital governance policy and standards both within and beyond the university content management network and platform.

• Use research and analytics to inform content development and positioning as well as digital strategies.

• Ensure online content supports SEO goals, brand standards, web style guidelines, accessibility policy, domain standards, legal and compliance requirements.

• Leads the university through establishing and adhering to digital governance policies, procedures.

• Oversee regular review of digital content and structure to ensure strategic alignment.

• Support content publishing and presentation across digital communication channels including web, email, mobile, SMS and other integrated channels as needed.

• Assesses, prioritizes and executes strategic content repurposing supporting a publish once, read everywhere model.

• Work with project managers, strategists, content and digital team to ensure timelines and deadlines are meet.

• Exhibits excellent judgement with attention to detail regarding accessibility and quality assurance standards.

• Uses solid practices for digital testing for optimization.

• Serves as a thought leader among campus web professionals and communicators.

• Stays on top of digital industry trends and best practices.
