Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

•Provide clerical and administrative support and services for assigned Residential Life & Housing staff positions – Hall Director(s) and Assistant Director(s)

•Facilitate Residential Life & Housing’s administrative processes (keys and paperwork audits) to provide safe, inclusive, and well-maintained facilities to ensure a resident-centered approach.

•Ensure quality customer service, while managing student staff assistants of a satellite Residential Life & Housing Office

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Ability to understand and explain University and Residential Life & Housing policies, and facility and equipment specifications to customers.
•Demonstrated time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently and take initiative.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills in a business or professional setting.
•Demonstrated good judgment skills in making decisions which balance customer benefit and facility/operational interests.
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher), and corporate email.
•Ability to learn and efficiently utilize specialized business software related to purchasing and billing, employee time reporting, and college residence facility record-keeping databases.
•Ability to multi-task and establish efficient priorities.
•Ability to use standard office equipment (multi-line phones, fax, copiers, printers, etc.)
•Experience working with the public, preferably in an educational setting, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, faculty, other departments, vendors, and visitors.
•Must be able to work overtime hours during times of departmental need.
•Ability to work with a culturally diverse population in a higher education setting.
•Several year’s full time experience or considerable part time experience working in an administrative support or office management position.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Several years of administrative/clerical experience.
•Several years of college or post-secondary education.
•Training in secretarial skills via either an online course or technical school training.
•Previous experience with Banner, STAR - REZ, purchasing software or similar software.
•Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps (including Gmail), mail merge, and basic computer knowledge Desktop publishing preferred.
