Job Description:

The Recruitment/Retention Specialist – Educational Talent Search is a career service position. The Recruitment/Retention Specialist will perform duties in support of the Educational Talent Search grant relating to the programs, services, and resources available to assist in the recruitment and retention of middle and high school students, establish a network of resources both within and outside the organization to assist in the recruitment and retention efforts, prepare timely written reports, graphs, and statistical data on recruitment and retention efforts, and relieve the Director of administrative detail with considerable latitude for exercising judgment and discretion. Additionally, the Recruitment/Retention Specialist will disseminate informational material, such as program requirements and class schedules, to prospective and/or continuing students; represent the program by giving presentations at various activities, such as college/job fairs and community meetings; track progress of students throughout the program; counsel students regarding personal and/or academic issues; and refer students to other sources of counseling as needed. This position reports to the Program Director, Educational Talent Search. Pending Board approval.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree or appropriate work experience on a year to year basis may be substituted for the degree requirement and experience in administrative, data entry, microcomputer applications. Successful result of a criminal background check is required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to use computer software to create reports and track data; experience in working with groups of students; ability to present information and respond to questions from parents and students; and teamwork skills.

Annual Salary: $29,400.00 ($15.02/hour)
