Research Associate or Research Professor in Molecular Orthopaedics in Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
The University of Washington Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a part-time (.5 FTE) faculty member in orthopedic molecular biology. This appointment will be at the Research Associate or Research Professor level (without tenure due to reasons of funding) and be appointed as the Director of the Molecular Orthopaedics Lab.
We are seeking a successful candidate who will be expected to collaborate on ongoing projects within the Department’s Molecular Orthopaedics Lab which include sarcoma and developmental skeletal biology as well as the biology of articular cartilage. The candidate will also be expected to pursue and secure independent extramural funding in their own complementary areas of research. This is a 12-month service period position (June-July) with an anticipated start date in Winter 2021.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and have completed a post-doctoral fellowship of at least one year in a relevant field of study.
Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to: a track record of high-impact original research in sarcoma and developmental biology of the musculoskeletal system; publications in peer reviewed journals; and demonstrated success in obtaining extramural fellowships.
