The Center for Teaching and Learning at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for an Assistant Director for Educational Technology. Washington University is a highly-selective research university with a strong tradition of high quality teaching. The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Washington University plays a central role in promoting best practices in pedagogy across all schools of the university and assists faculty and other instructors in course design and the implementation of evidence-based practice.  The Assistant Director for Educational Technology will work in collaboration with CTL’s staff to develop and deliver effective, evidence-based programming focused on educational technology that supports the teaching and learning mission of the university. The Assistant Director will provide training, consultations and pedagogic support for the use of the university-supported learning management system (Canvas), video conferencing platforms (e.g. Kaltura), and other EdTech tools. Additional responsibilities include: supporting the development and evaluation of university-wide teaching initiatives with evidence-based recommendations, researching and developing training resources on best practices for using technology in teaching, and engaging in professional development and conducting research on implementing and evaluating EdTech in college teaching.

Requirements for the position include: Master’s Degree (Ph.D. preferred), teaching experience at a college or university, formal training in instructional design, and experience teaching remotely with Learning Management Systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong record in the area of educational development with a specific focus in technology including: history of working in or with a center for teaching and learning, knowledge of evidence-based practices, and experience developing and delivering programs to enhance online teaching and learning. Finally, the successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual forms.
