Lead, Program Management

Job Purpose

The Lead, Program Management will direct, implement, assess, and improve programs for student research within the School of Medicine and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Most of the duties of the position require a close working relationship with other leaders in Education. The Lead, Program Management reports directly to the Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences with a dotted line report to the Dean of the School of Medicine.

Job Duties

• Communicate with faculty across BCM and affiliated hospitals with regard to the opportunity to have medical students participate in research projects.
• Oversees strategic planning initiatives and process improvement efforts.
• Provides financial management support for the program, including budget development and monitoring, financial analysis, and forecasting.
• May perform pre- and post- grant management activities.
• Liaise and build relationships with departments and other entities to promote program engagement.
• Organize and participate in facilitated seminars and discussions to support student research.
• Develop cross-disciplinary enrichment programs that facilitate vertical mentoring, research skills, knowledge of basic and translational research, and career development for students.
• Develop, plan, organize, and deliver program information and training sessions to enhance student research skills.
• Identify, disseminate, and advise students about local and national research opportunities.
• Track and assess program outcomes; present program outcomes and engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives based on outcomes.
• Mange research opportunities database for medical and graduate students seeking independent basic, translational and clinical research experiences.
• Serve as a clearing house for research opportunities for students, including potential grant opportunities.
• Develop research opportunities inventory for students based on area of research interest and type of research.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree with a significant research component .
• Strongly peferred: PhD with postdoctoral experience in clinical or translational research and teaching.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in basic science, clinical, translational, or population health research.
