The Department of Political Science & Legal Studies at Suffolk University invites applications for a 1-year position for a full-time, non-tenure-track instructor of Legal Studies beginning July 1, 2021. Faculty responsibilities for this position include a nominal load of eight courses a year, teaching courses in the Law major (e.g., Ethics and Legal Practice Skills; Legal Research and Writing), and first-year general education courses (as needed). Service responsibilities include assisting with program administration and preparing American Bar Association approval reports. A strong component of this position includes advising students in preparation for graduate school and careers in the fields of law, public policy, and government and actively participating in the life of the department, college, and university through participation in shared governance and other service activities.
The successful candidate will have a JD and be in good standing with their state bar association. with demonstrated college/university teaching excellence and expertise in the intersection of issues relevant to communities of color and the law. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the legal issues surrounding underserved and underrepresented communities in the United States.
The Political Science & Legal Studies Department offers undergraduate degrees in Law, Political Science, and International Relations as well as master’s degrees in Applied Politics and Global Public Policy. The Department has a strong commitment to student development by providing high-quality instruction to a diverse student body.
