Position Summary:

This position leads the warehousing team supporting material requirements for the Physical Plant. This is a working supervisory position that will perform the duties of team members. This position is responsible for developing an accurate, efficient, and effective controlled inventory in `shop store' locations. The position works closely with Physical Plant Shops on inventory requirements. The purpose of the inventory is to support facilities maintenance activities (breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, renovation, major repair, and minor construction). The controlled inventory will be regularly audited for accuracy.

This position will be under the general direction of the Shop Store Supervisor. The position will receive community management from the Shop Store Supervisor and the Business Operations and Purchasing Department (BOP).

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree with a major in business or related field preferred; or, 3 years of progressively responsible experience in inventory management, theory, terminology, and formulas.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

2 years of experience with inventory management, theory, terminology, and formulas. Experience with inventory control and best practices.

Additional Information:

- Knowledge of inventory control best practices.
- Knowledge of inventory management theory terminology and formulas, including economic order quantity formulas.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standard procedures pertaining to State and UW-Madison purchasing and receiving operations.
- Knowledge of administrative and materials management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of an Integrated Work Management System (IWMS) principles and functionality, such as data input/ output, querying data, and report generation.
- Knowledge of general supervisory duties.
- Knowledge of budget development and execution.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Proficiency in a wide range of software programs and databases.
- Experience with process improvement.
- Understanding of facilities maintenance practices.
- Skill in researching and purchasing a wide range of material in support of facilities management activities.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to perform work safely and promote safety consciousness for the organization.
- Ability to maintain accurate and accountable records and documentation of assigned activities.
- Ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members.
- Ability to contribute ideas, problem solve problems, assist and motivate others, and adapt to new ideas and procedures.
