Position Summary:

Evaluates, reviews, creates, and edits internal and external communications. Reviews content for completeness, accuracy, and correctness for publications to align with editorial or client objectives. With limited supervision from the Center Director and other Principal Investigators, the incumbent manages multiple projects and provides operational support for research projects across the Center.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS, relevant degrees may include journalism, communications, English, literature or allied professions.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of ten years of professional technical writing and editing experience in a broad array of scientific subject areas required. The successful candidate will have extensive experience developing, writing and editing science, health, and medical materials for scientific and general audiences. Must have experience creating accessible content for apps and websites in an academic research setting, and a wide range of audiences, from children to adults.

Strongly qualified candidates will have:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to research and synthesize information in both written and oral form.
- Demostrated ability to produce high-quality content for multiple publishing formats
- Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Initiative and creativity on the job along with the ability to problem solve.
- Superior listening skills to uncover information needs.
- Previous content/editorial development experience in the publishing industry.

This position works within the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies. The Center is a dynamic, mission-driven organization directed by Dr. David Gustafson with over 30 team members focused on research using technology, organizational, and individual change projects to improve health and quality of life for individuals and families facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
