Position Summary:

The Assistant Director serves as an institutional subject matter expert and liaison with key internal and external stakeholders providing expert level information and representing the interests of CCHEs community-engaged health equity research portfolio. Successful incumbent will make significant contributions to the implementation of institutional strategic plans, which advance programming on collaborative translational health equity research, health equity research workforce development, community/stakeholder engagement, and program evaluation. This position will also build upon and sustain connections between UW researchers and community agencies/organizations and departments and programs that serve people facing persistent disparities in health and health outcomes. The CCHE team includes three fulltime staff and 3 part time faculty; this position reports to the faculty director.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD in a biomedical, public health or social/behavioral science field required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

REQUIRED
-Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral experience conducting health equity research, to include identifying research problems, designing research methodologies, performing and/or supervising research, and preparing data/results for dissemination to professional/scientific organizations and/or for scholarly publications.
-Experience contributing to an academic research program using service as a means to collaboratively address health equity and eliminate disparities that are disproportionately experienced by members of minority/underrepresented populations and underserved communities.
-Formal teaching/instruction of clinical, behavioral and social sciences scholars (across levels of experience) about health equity research and community-academic research partnerships.
-Authoring of evidence-based research papers.
-Authoring and acquisition of grant funding.
-Administrative leadership skills including project management, contributing to stakeholder annual reporting requirements, participating on/presenting to workgroups and committees of diverse audiences.

PREFERRED
-Ability to provide technical assistance to researchers conducting community-engaged health equity research, addressing sociocultural contexts and social determinants of health.
-Experience with qualitative research methods and analysis, including mixed-methods and conduct and analysis of formative interviews and focus groups.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.

Additional Information:

This position is part of the UW Collaborative Center for Health Equity (CCHE). The CCHE resides within the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) which reflects a partnership of the UW Schools of Medicine and Public Health; Nursing; Pharmacy; and Veterinary Medicine; the College of Engineering; and the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute. ICTR is home to the UW Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). Contributions through this position will align with and support strategic priorities required via the NIH CTSA Community and Collaboration and Integrating Special Populations program components, as well as the ICTR?s research workforce development initiatives, both of which rely on inclusive excellence.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.
